This original US 97th Infantry Patch is genuine World War Two era military surplus insignia.
Authentic Insignia & Unit History
The 97th Infantry Division, nicknamed the Trident Division, served in Europe during 1945. They fought in the Ruhr Pocket and advanced into Czechoslovakia. This cloth shoulder sleeve insignia was worn on the upper left arm of the service coat or field jacket to identify the soldier's unit.
Embroidered Design & Symbolism
This patch features a white trident on a deep blue shield with a white embroidered border. The trident prongs originally represented Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire. The blue field reflects the region's lakes, while the white border represents snow-capped mountains. Measures 6 cm by 5.5 cm with a fully embroidered front.
