Full Description
This original WW2 surplus Bandolier Equipment Pattern 1903, 50 Round Bandolier, MkII variant is a rare piece of military history. Manufactured in South Africa during the Second World War, this leather strap offers collectors and re-enactors a genuine, historically significant addition to their gear.
Wartime South African Heritage
First introduced after the Boer War, the 1903 Pattern was designed to carry rifle ammunition. While British forces transitioned to cotton webbing, South Africa continued to manufacture this leather variant during World War Two. This was due to their plentiful supply of leather and the difficulty of producing cotton canvas locally.
Practical Design and Features
This bandolier features five pockets, each holding ten .303 SMLE rounds in two charger clips. The curved leather strap fits comfortably over the shoulder, with a small steadying strap to secure to a waist belt. All fasteners, buckles and the adjustment triangle are made from brass-coloured metal.
Grade 2 Surplus Condition
As genuine surplus, these are in Grade 2 condition. This means they show heavier signs of service use, such as stains, scratches, or minor wear, while remaining fully functional. The leather colour varies from a warm red-brown to a dark mahogany, giving each piece a unique historical character.
Complete your historic field display or vintage collection with this genuine piece of World War Two military history.
