This original US 33rd Infantry patch features the iconic Golden Cross insignia of the 33rd Infantry Division.
Unit History
First established in 1917, the US 33rd Infantry Division earned the nickname Golden Cross Division during service in World War I and World War II. Formed primarily from Illinois National Guard units, the division served with distinction in France and later across the Pacific Theatre before being deactivated in 1968.
Insignia Design
The patch features a gold embroidered cross centred on a black circular background with a stitched outer edge. Measuring 5.5cm in diameter, this shoulder sleeve insignia was created as an easily identifiable unit badge. The reverse side shows standard period-correct thread backing construction.
