Patrol-Modified Short Brim
British patrol units and Special Forces operating in dense jungle originally modified issue headwear by trimming the wide rims right down. Standard wide brims flopped in wet conditions and caught on low branches. This tailored 4.5cm brim stops snagging on brush while maintaining full peripheral awareness and upward sightlines when scanning tree lines or spotting game.
Ripstop Fabric and Foliage Band
Made from a hard-wearing polycotton ripstop, the cloth prevents small thorns from turning into larger tears during rigorous outdoor activity. Circular stitched reinforcement stiffens the rim without making it heavy. A sturdy stitched webbing foliage band encircles the crown, giving you secure anchor points to weave in local grass, branches, or camouflage scrim.
Pocket-Sized Utility and Fit
Weighing around 65g, the hat crushes down flat to stow neatly into a combat jacket pocket or rucksack lid. An under-chin braided retention cord with sliding toggle anchors the hat during sudden gusts or fast movement. In Grade 1 condition, these surplus hats display minimal signs of previous service and remain completely intact for all outdoor tasks.
