VE Day Replica Newspaper
KEY FEATURES
This VE Day replica newspaper reproduces the full historic edition of The Daily Sketch from 8 May 1945.
Complete 1945 VE Day Edition
This paper is a full reprint of The Daily Sketch No. 11,223 issued on Tuesday, 8 May 1945. It features the announcement of the two-day public holiday alongside reports of General Jodl signing Germany's unconditional surrender at Eisenhower's headquarters. Every column matches the original layout, giving living history displays and collectors genuine period context.
Street Celebrations and Wartime Reports
Inside pages capture the national mood with photographs of packed crowds at Piccadilly Circus and the Victoria Memorial. The paper covers King George VI's victory message, troop movements in Oslo, and news across Europe. These unfiltered reports show exactly how the public received the end of the conflict in Europe as it happened.
Original Period Culture and Adverts
Beyond major headlines, the paper contains classic wartime adverts for Hovis bread, Cadbury, and Scholl foot care. It also includes vintage cartoon strips like Blondie and Pop, as well as daily radio schedules. These everyday details make it a practical reference prop for Second World War reenactment kit and home front education.
Complete your World War Two display or historical impression with this full Daily Sketch VE Day reproduction.
