This original US Army M43 field jacket hood is genuine military surplus from World War Two.
Wartime Origins
Introduced in 1943 as part of the unified M-1943 combat uniform, the Hood, Jacket, Field, M-1943 provided vital foul-weather protection for American infantry in Europe. Designed to replace inadequate early-war garments, it gave soldiers a modular weather shield during the bitter winter of 1944.
Material & Jacket Attachment
Made from dense Olive Drab cotton, this hood acts as an effective windbreak against driving rain and snow. It features pre-cut buttonholes along the base, fastening directly under the jacket collar and onto shoulder loops for a secure, draft-proof attachment.
Field Utility & Helmet Fit
The hood features an adjustable drawstring for a tight facial seal and is cut generously to fit over a wool knit cap or under an M-1 steel helmet. When the weather clears, it folds down flat to slip neatly into a jacket cargo pocket for easy field carry.

This item was used by the US Army during the WWII (1939–1945) and is in Grade 1 condition. It is in very good condition with plenty of life left. We recommend giving it a wash before wearing.
