This is an original US Army Armor School shoulder patch.
Historical Origin
Established on October 1, 1940, at Fort Knox, Kentucky, the US Army Armor School was created to train tank crews and cavalry officers for combined arms operations. This shoulder sleeve insignia represents decades of armoured warfare training, serving as the official emblem for soldiers undergoing specialised armour instruction before the school relocated to Fort Moore.
Branch Heraldry
The emblem features a distinct triangular pyramid design divided into gold, blue, and red segments, representing the Cavalry, Infantry, and Artillery branches. Centred on the badge is a black tank track and cannon crossed by a red lightning bolt, symbolising armour mobility, firepower, and rapid tactical speed across the battlefield.
