This is an accurate reproduction of the WW2 German Luftwaffe Aviator Beobachtungsuhr watch.
Luftwaffe Navigation Heritage
First issued in 1940 under specification Fl. 23883, the B-Uhr served as a primary navigation tool for German bomber crews. Navigators paired these high-precision timepieces with octants to calculate flight coordinates over long distances. Because of their tactical importance, original pieces were issued before missions and returned immediately upon landing.
Baumuster B Dial Layout
This watch features the historical Baumuster B dial, introduced in 1941 to prioritise minute tracking over standard hours. The outer track displays 5 to 55 minutes alongside clear seconds markers, while an inner ring marks the 1 to 12 hours. Luminous paint on the hands, hour dots, and outer indexes ensures fast reading in low cockpit light.
Field Specs and Modern Build
Scaled to a wearable 42mm matte alloy case, this model replaces fragile mechanical movements with a reliable battery-powered quartz movement. The oversized 7mm textured onion crown replicates the original grip designed for thick flight gloves.
