German Y-Straps - Webbing Suspenders
Good used condition. Fully functional and field-ready, with light wear and typical service markings.
Genuine Issue Surplus
KEY FEATURES
These are original German grey webbing Y-straps, built to support heavy military combat belt rigs.
East German Military Heritage
Originally issued to the East German Nationale Volksarmee (NVA) during the Cold War era, this load-bearing system is known officially as the Koppeltragegestell. This grey webbing harness was designed to hook directly into the standard combat belt, shifting the heavy load of steel buckles, pouches, and ammunition onto the shoulders to prevent hip strain during long marches.
Heavy-Duty Technical Specs
These straps are made from a super-strong, rot-resistant grey nylon webbing that survives wet field conditions much better than vintage leather. It features robust steel belt hooks and adjustable metal sliders for a custom fit. The iconic round vinyl back divider keeps the straps flat and comfortable between your shoulder blades without rubbing.
Tactical Utility & Bushcraft
Today, these suspenders are a top-tier choice for camping, bushcraft, and hiking. The integrated metal D-rings on the shoulders are perfect for clipping on small tools, water bottles, or compasses. Because it keeps your trousers and gear belt securely positioned, it works as a highly functional, load-bearing alternative to modern chest rigs.
Equip your field rig with these reliable East German military surplus suspenders.
This item was used by the German Army during the Late Cold War (1961–1991) and is in Grade 1 condition. It is in very good condition with plenty of life left. We recommend giving it a wash before wearing.
