Genuine Issue Surplus
KEY FEATURES
This is a genuine SADF Nutria Brown Mesh Vest, an original South African Defence Force issue athletic top.
Cold War Bushveldt Heritage
This is the classic SADF sports singlet, issued during the Border War for physical training in intense African heat. Developed in the iconic nutria brown shade to match the dry bushveldt, these tops were supplied by contract manufacturers like Tru-Knit and Elmar. Many still show their vintage labels dated between 1988 and 1993 with official stock marks.
Aertex Mesh Engineering
The vest is made of a high-airflow Aertex-style open-mesh fabric. Unlike dense modern synthetics, this uniform eyelet pattern lets air circulate freely to cool you down when you're working up a sweat. It has a generous scooped neckline and ribbed-bound seams to stop any chafing under load, making it a reliable, high-ventilation base layer for demanding trail work.
High-Ventilation Performance
For modern bushcrafters, hikers, or runners, this vest is a massive upgrade over modern polyester. It excels as an active-use top in hot climates or as a wicking base layer during winter, trapping body heat inside the mesh under your outer jacket. These come in Grade 1 lightly used condition or unissued Supergrade, built to last far longer than cheap civilian alternatives.
Add this classic, hard-wearing military athletic singlet to your outdoor kit for unbeatable warm-weather airflow.
This item was used by the Other Army during the Late Cold War (1961–1991) and is in Grade 1 condition. It is in very good condition with plenty of life left. We recommend giving it a wash before wearing.
