Traditional Summer Service Design
During warmer months and tropical deployments, sailors fitted a removable white cotton cover over standard blue wool peaked caps. This preserved the wool crown beneath from heavy sun bleaching and salt spray, allowing naval officers and senior ratings to maintain a sharp, regulation dress standard on deck without needing a completely separate seasonal cap.
