These are original East German Police Border Guard Shoulder Boards.
GDR Border Guard Heritage
These are original GDR shoulder boards issued to the Deutsche Volkspolizei and border guards. Representing the rank of Wachtmeister, they were worn on the shoulders of service tunics during the Cold War. The bright light green backing is the official Waffenfarbe (corps colour) for the border police units, marking their specific role in East Germany.
Traditional Police Braid
They are made with the traditional German police braid (Polizeigeflecht) consisting of twisted silver-grey and dark green cords. This is sewn onto a soft light green cotton backing with a dark green stripe running down the middle. They've got the standard slip-on design with a fabric loop on the underside so you can mount them easily onto your tunic.
Collectors & Reenactors
