Genuine Issue Surplus
KEY FEATURES
This is an original US 3rd Infantry Division patch featuring the famous blue and white insignia.
Unit History & Symbolism
The 3rd Infantry Division earned the nickname Rock of the Marne during World War One for holding the line along the Marne River. The unit insignia consists of a 6cm x 6cm square patch featuring three white diagonal stripes set on a blue field. The stripes represent the division's major World War One campaigns: Marne, St. Mihiel, and Meuse-Argonne.
Construction & Specification
This shoulder sleeve insignia is made with dense embroidered thread on a durable backing cloth. It features a thick dark green merrowed edge that prevents fraying and keeps the shape rigid. The flat back structure allows you to sew the badge directly onto tunic sleeves, field jackets, utility shirts, or display boards.
Collector & Reenactor Utility
As an official US Army division insignia worn from 1918 through modern conflicts, this badge is an ideal choice for military patch collectors, uniform restorers, and historical reenactors. The 6cm dimensions match original service specifications, making it a reliable replacement or display addition for jacket sleeve restoration.
