The Original South African 70 Pattern Webbing Belt is a genuine military surplus waist belt.
SADF Border War Heritage
Issued to the South African Defence Force during the 1970s and 1980s, this belt served as the foundation for the Pattern 70 load-bearing system. Designed by M.J. du Toit to replace earlier kit, it was built specifically to handle harsh bush environments throughout the South African Border War.
Robust Construction and Variants
The belt is constructed from heavyweight olive cotton canvas that resists fraying and abrasion. It features a solid interlocking metal hook buckle and twin metal slide adjusters.
Versatile Field Utility
Sized to adjust between 24 and 40 inches, this belt offers a comfortable, reliable fit over trousers or jackets. The pop-stud version anchors compatible kidney pouches, canteens, and holsters securely without slipping, making it ideal for bushcraft, outdoor load carrying, and military reenactment.
Complete your Bush War loadout or outdoor kit with this genuine SADF equipment belt.
This item was used by the Other Army during the Late Cold War (1961–1991) and is in Grade 1 condition. It is in very good condition with plenty of life left. We recommend giving it a wash before wearing.
Grade 1 represents solid, fully functional military surplus that has been deployed or issued but remains in great usable condition with plenty of life left.
- Functionality: 100% field-ready. All main zippers, press studs, drawstrings, and buckles work as intended with no critical faults.
- Fabric & Wear: Structurally sound with light cosmetic wear, minor abrasion, or subtle fading from normal military use and laundering.
- Markings & Personalisation: May feature soldier names, unit numbers, service markings, or light depot stamps written on tags or fabric.
- Repairs: May include neat, professional military-standard stitches or minor reinforcement patches that do not compromise gear integrity.
- Storage & Cleanliness: Gear is serviceable straight out of the box, though a standard initial wash or airing is recommended to clear typical military surplus storage scent and minor handling dust.
