KEY FEATURES
The East German Army Ushanka Hat is an original Cold War winter cap built for extreme cold.
Cold War Naval Origin
Originally issued to East German forces during the Cold War, this navy blue NVA Wintermütze was worn by naval personnel facing harsh winter conditions. Built with a tough cotton outer shell and finished with the original metal DDR emblem, it offers genuine historical detail alongside heavy-duty winter utility for outdoor enthusiasts and collectors alike.
Thermal Protection and Design
Designed for freezing weather, the hat features thick synthetic fur lining across the front panel and ear flaps. The fold-down flaps protect your ears, cheeks, and neck from biting wind, and can be tied securely under the chin using the attached fabric straps or secured overhead when conditions warm up.
Practical Outdoor Utility
Unlike lightweight civilian wool beanies, the dense fabric body blocks wind while the padded interior retains head warmth during extended outdoor activity. It is ideal for winter bushcraft, cold-weather camping, outdoor work, or historical reenactments where reliable insulation and durable construction are essential.
Equip yourself with a genuine piece of Cold War kit for your next winter expedition.
This item was used by the German Navy during the Late Cold War (1961–1991) and is in Grade 1 condition. It is in very good condition with plenty of life left. We recommend giving it a wash before wearing.
