Signal Filters and Controls
Designed for field communication, this torch features front-mounted sliders that drop red and green optical filters directly over the main lens. Type 1 models use a dual-position slide switch for switching between momentary signalling and constant illumination. Type 2 models feature a rocker switch mechanism along with a central dimming filter that reduces light output for covert night use.
Internal Mechanics and Power
The stamped metal casing houses a simple circuit board with solid brass contact strips. It operates on a standard 4.5V 3LR12 flat battery and uses screw-base E10 filament bulbs. An internal mounting bracket holds a spare bulb inside the housing, allowing quick field replacement without extra tools if a filament burns out during use.
Mounting and Carrying Options
Issued to infantry units across Switzerland, these lamps include a heavy-duty leather attachment strap riveted to the back cover. Keyhole slots on the leather allow you to button the lamp onto your combat tunic or webbing strap for hands-free illumination. The robust steel housing protects the glass bulb assembly from impact damage during outdoor use.

This item was used by the Swiss Army during the Late Cold War (1961–1991) and is in Grade 1 condition. It is in very good condition with plenty of life left. We recommend giving it a wash before wearing.
