The original Russian KZS camo sniper suit is a two-piece Soviet military oversuit.

Soviet Military Origins

First issued to Soviet chemical troops in 1975, the Kostyum Zashchitnyy Setchatyy (KZS) was created as a lightweight protective coverall. Although built for short-term thermal protection, Soviet snipers and reconnaissance forces adopted it during the Afghan War. The open cotton weave allowed maximum airflow in hot climates while breaking up human silhouettes in dry terrain.

Practical Field Features

The jacket features a broad front button closure and an oversized helmet-compatible hood with a rear cinch button to prevent sag. Extra-long sleeves unroll over gloves for complete hand coverage or button up at the wrist. Matching trousers include an elastic waist, elastic ankles, dual reinforced knees, and side pass-through slits to reach your inner uniform pockets.

Breathable Camouflage Mesh

Woven from coarse cotton mesh treated with flame retardants, the fabric features the classic dual-tone Berezka sunbeam pattern. The ventilated grid pattern keeps you cool during warm weather while letting you attach local grass or foliage directly into the mesh for extra field concealment. The entire set weighs roughly 700g, packing down easily into a kit bag.
