This original Czech Army ushanka hat is genuine military surplus built for freezing winter conditions.
Cold War Issue and History
Originally issued as the vz. 85 beranice, this winter cap served soldiers in the Czechoslovak People's Army (ČSLA) and later the Czech military. Made to endure harsh Central European winters on border patrol, each hat features the original pinned gold-toned Czech coat of arms badge on the front.
Tough Windproof Construction
Unlike traditional wool caps, the outer shell is made from a heavy 65% polyester and 35% cotton twill. This dense weave blocks biting winds and resists abrasion in dense woodland. Inside, thick grey synthetic faux-fur pile lines the forehead and ear panels, backed by a smooth diamond-quilted insulated crown that locks in heat.
Convertible Ear Protection
The flexible side flaps adapt quickly to shifting winter weather. Secure them over the crown with the side button fasteners during high-output trekking, or drop them down to shield your ears, cheeks, and neck from freezing drafts. A neat, low-profile peak keeps blowing snow out of your eyes while working outside or around camp.

This item was used by the Czech Army during the Late Cold War (1961–1991) and is in Grade 1 condition. It is in very good condition with plenty of life left. We recommend giving it a wash before wearing.
