Cold War Tactical Design
Originally designated as the sátorlap-esőgallér by the Hungarian People's Army, this system dates back to the Cold War. Formed of M1949/82 camouflage, it was engineered for infantrymen. Soldiers carried one piece of the canvas, which served as a hooded cape during patrols, then combined their panels at night to build a robust two-person A-frame shelter in the field.
Heavy-Duty Canvas Construction
Each panel is woven from impregnated cotton canvas. This dense material is naturally water-repellent as the fibres swell when wet to create an impenetrable barrier. Unlike modern synthetics, it is highly resistant to campfire sparks, making it ideal for bushcraft. The edges feature dual-sided aluminium button snaps and reinforced metal eyelets for secure ground pinning.
Modular Shelter Deployment
Setting up the tent is straightforward. Buttoning the two triangular sheets together creates a compact basha measuring roughly 2m x 1.5m with a peak height of 1.25m. The set includes a multi-section steel central pole and heavy-duty steel ground pegs, all neatly housed in a matching camo storage bag. Built for active survivalists, it provides a windproof and reliable woodland camp.

This item was used by the Hungarian Army during the Late Cold War (1961–1991) and is in Grade 1 condition. It is in very good condition with plenty of life left. We recommend giving it a wash before wearing.
