Austrian Army Mess Tin Set
Well-worn with heavy character. May feature professional repairs, fading, or small holes. Sold as-is for rugged use.
Genuine Issue Surplus
KEY FEATURES
This is an original Austrian Army Mess Tin Set, designed for outdoor military field cooking.
Classic Military Design
This three-piece Essgeschirr is based on the classic German M31 kidney-shaped design, adopted by the Austrian Bundesheer. Its curved, kidney-shaped profile is engineered to nest snugly against a rucksack or combat pack, reducing movement during active travel. The set includes a deep boiling pot, a nesting middle tray, and a lid that doubles as a frying pan or bowl.
Rugged Aluminium Build
Made from painted aluminium, this mess kit provides excellent heat distribution while keeping the carry weight low. The main boiling pot features a sturdy steel wire bale handle, allowing you to hang it securely over an open campfire. The lid has a folding steel handle that folds down to lock all three nested components tightly together during transport.
Genuine Army Surplus
These are Grade 2 surplus items accepted by the Austrian military agency, stamped with HBA06 MM or similar. Each set shows authentic field wear, including dents, scratches, and paint loss. This wear does not affect their utility; they remain fully functional, providing a durable, cost-effective, and historically interesting cookset for bushcraft and camping.
Equip your bushcraft kit with this genuine Austrian army cookset.
This item was used by the Austrian Army during the Modern (2000–Present) and is in Distressed condition. It shows heavier signs of use and fading, but remains fully functional. We recommend washing before use.

Distressed gear is heavily worn surplus packed with genuine field character. While cosmetic wear is substantial, we never sell unusable junk—every item remains fit for its core, primary purpose and is ideal for rugged beat-around use, projects, or workwear.
- Functionality: The main structure and essential closures remain usable, though secondary elements (like a side pocket zip, drawcord toggle, or single snap) may be stiff, stuck, or broken.
- Fabric & Wear: Expect noticeable softening, severe fading, fraying hems, surface staining, or small puncture holes/snags that do not compromise the main build.
- Hardware & Metalwork: Metal snaps, buckles, and eyelets may show paint chipping, heavy patina, surface rust, or tarnishing, but main fastening points stay secure.
- Repairs & Modifications: Often features in-service repairs, patches, visible hand-stitching, missing non-critical buttons, or bold soldier names and stencil markings.
- Storage & Scent: Authentic surplus that has seen real deployment and depot storage—a solid wash and air-out is recommended before everyday wear.
