US 89th Infantry Division Patch
Good used condition. Fully functional and field-ready, with light wear and typical service markings.
Genuine Issue Surplus
KEY FEATURES
This is an original US 89th Infantry Division shoulder sleeve patch.
Division Origin and Design
First formed in 1917, the 89th Infantry Division earned the nickname the "Rolling W" from its distinctive insignia. The design features a black monogram on an olive green cloth field enclosed by a circular border. When rotated, the central letter flips from a W to an M, referencing the unit's original Midwestern recruits.
Service History and Construction
During World War II, the division fought across Western Europe, crossing the Rhine and liberating the Ohrdruf camp in 1945. Measuring approximately 5.5cm in diameter, this circular badge features dense edge stitching and classic khaki bobbin thread on the reverse side, typical of mid-20th-century US military insignia production.
Collector and Reenactor Utility
This original badge is ideal for completing a period-correct M1943 or Ike jacket uniform build. Whether you are assembling an authentic WWII uniform display or filling a gap in a shoulder sleeve insignia collection, this patch offers genuine historical provenance that modern reproductions cannot match.
Add this genuine US Army shoulder patch to your collection or WWII tunic display.
This item was used by the US Army during the WWII (1939–1945) and is in Grade 1 condition. It is in very good condition with plenty of life left. We recommend giving it a wash before wearing.
