Genuine Issue Surplus
KEY FEATURES
These German Army Cosmoped Rubber Overshoe Boots are original military surplus wet-weather covers in Grade 1 condition.
Everyday Welly Replacement
Skip the hassle of pulling on sticky wellies. These overshoes fit directly over your everyday trainers or work boots, making them ideal for muddy dog walks across boggy fields or jet-washing the patio. Keep a pair in the car boot to stay prepared for sudden downpours, festival mud, and sodden ground without sacrificing the comfort of your own footwear.
Cold War Military Provenance
Originally issued to the German Bundeswehr during the Late Cold War, these boots formed part of the standard NBC protective kit. Produced by military contractors under NSN 8430-12-322-4497, they were built to shield soldiers against chemical agents and foul weather while fitting seamlessly over standard issue leather combat boots.
Front-Zip Waterproof Design
Engineered for speed, a heavy-duty front YKK zipper runs down to the instep for quick entry. A continuous interior rubber bellows gusset backs the zip, creating a watertight seal up to the 31cm collar. The durable vulcanised rubber outer repels liquid, mud, and grit while remaining flexible enough for prolonged outdoor use.
Anti-Slip Utility Tread
The flat, moulded outsole features a dense mini-cleat waffle tread that bites into wet grass, loose dirt, and slick tarmac without clogging with heavy clay. Marked antistatisch, the vulcanised sole resists petrol, motor oil, and mild chemicals, making it equally dependable for greasy garage workshops or messy garden landscaping.
Equip your foul-weather kit with genuine German military surplus to keep your everyday footwear clean and dry.
This item was used by the German Army during the Late Cold War (1961–1991) and is in Grade 1 condition. It is in very good condition with plenty of life left. We recommend giving it a wash before wearing.

Grade 1 represents solid, fully functional military surplus that has been deployed or issued but remains in great usable condition with plenty of life left.
- Functionality: 100% field-ready. All main zippers, press studs, drawstrings, and buckles work as intended with no critical faults.
- Fabric & Wear: Structurally sound with light cosmetic wear, minor abrasion, or subtle fading from normal military use and laundering.
- Markings & Personalisation: May feature soldier names, unit numbers, service markings, or light depot stamps written on tags or fabric.
- Repairs: May include neat, professional military-standard stitches or minor reinforcement patches that do not compromise gear integrity.
- Storage & Cleanliness: Gear is serviceable straight out of the box, though a standard initial wash or airing is recommended to clear typical military surplus storage scent and minor handling dust.
“Bought as some throw on wellies for letting the dogs out & shutting up the chooks last thing. Perfect for that. There's some weird flat rivets in the inside which must be deliberate as there's the same amount in the same place in both so for 'wellies' I'll need to put an insole in but otherwise easy to get on, sturdy & waterproof so perfect for my job.”
