The Swiss M83 Alpenflage Field Jacket is an original Swiss Army combat layer designed for alpine field use.
Alpine Camouflage History
First issued to the Swiss Armed Forces in 1983 under the official designation Tarnanzug 83 (TAZ 83), this jacket replaced the heavier M70 smock. Its distinctive six-colour pattern uses red, green, brown, and white flecks engineered to disrupt human outlines against rocky alpine terrain and autumnal woodland.
Rugged Field Construction
Made from a 50% cotton and 50% polyester blend, the fabric gives you a balance of wind resistance, breathability, and quick-drying performance. Reinforced elbow panels protect against abrasion when prone or working through heavy brush, while buttoned epaulettes secure pack straps or gloves.
Functional Storage and Fit
The full-length front zip allows quick venting on hard climbs. You get two large chest pockets with press-snap flaps for gear, plus a smaller sleeve pocket with a built-in pen slot. The cuffs combine elastic and zips, so you can easily roll up your sleeves when working or layer over thick gloves.

This item was used by the Swiss Army during the Late Cold War (1961–1991) and is in Grade 1 condition. It is in very good condition with plenty of life left. We recommend giving it a wash before wearing.
